Loïc Mbe Soh Joins Sparta Prague for €3 Million

Loïc Mbe Soh is on the move again. This time, the former Nottingham Forest and PSG defender is swapping Sint-Truiden for Sparta Prague in a deal worth around €3 million.

It caps a sharp rise in stock over the past few months. Signed by Sint-Truiden only in January as a replacement for Rein Van Helden, who left for Antwerp, Mbe Soh quickly forced his way into the side and stayed there. He made 14 appearances in the second half of last season, helping the club clinch European football for the first time in their history. He has already featured twice this season before Sparta came calling.

For a player who once came through the much-scrutinised academy at PSG, this feels like another key junction in a winding career. Mbe Soh made three first-team appearances for the French giants before leaving for Nottingham Forest in 2020, chasing regular minutes and a bigger role.

Those minutes never truly arrived at the City Ground. Across four seasons with Forest, he played just 13 games and scored once, his time there punctuated by loan spells at Guingamp in France and Almere City in the Netherlands as he searched for rhythm and responsibility.

His reset came in 2024. Out of contract and leaving Forest on a free, he joined Beerschot in the Belgian Pro League. There, he finally played. A lot. Mbe Soh racked up 52 appearances for the club. The first full season ended in disappointment with relegation from the top flight, but he stayed on and became part of a group that pushed hard for promotion the following campaign.

That upturn in form earned him his January switch to Sint-Truiden, where his impact was immediate and measurable in league position and European qualification. Now, at 25, he steps into a Sparta Prague side with continental ambitions of their own and a clear idea of what they are buying: a defender who has taken the long road back towards the European spotlight and is finally playing like he intends to stay there.
