Liverpool's Right-Wing Search Hits Snag with Ismaïla Sarr
Liverpool’s search for a new right-winger has hit another wall, with Crystal Palace making it clear that Ismaïla Sarr is going nowhere.
The Anfield club explored a deal for the Senegal international as they work against the clock to find a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah. Reports from Fabrizio Romano claimed Liverpool put €58.4 million on the table for the Palace star, but The Athletic painted a different picture, stating no formal bid was lodged.
What is not in dispute: Liverpool made contact. The response from Selhurst Park was blunt. Sarr is not for sale.
Palace Stand Firm as Interest Mounts
Palace’s stance comes after a summer of persistent attention around Sarr. Galatasaray had already tested the waters with two offers, only to be turned away each time. The Turkish side are now expected to walk away rather than push their luck with a third bid.
Liverpool arrived at Sarr after a frustrating chase elsewhere. Andoni Iraola’s side had initially lined up Yankuba Minteh, but Brighton’s valuation forced a rethink. The Seagulls were said to be demanding around €90 million for the winger, a figure that shut the door on any realistic deal and pushed Liverpool to look again at Sarr.
Salah Successor Search Gets Messy
This has been a tangled window for Liverpool in their attempt to reshape the right flank. A string of names has been floated, conversations held, possibilities opened and closed.

He has racked up 116 league appearances in England and played a starring role as Crystal Palace lifted the Europa Conference League, scoring 21 goals in that triumphant campaign. That output inevitably drew attention from bigger clubs, and Liverpool’s interest only underlined his rising stock.
Palace, though, are acting like a club determined to hold their ground, not cash in.
Barcola Also in the Frame
Liverpool are not putting all their hopes on one flank or one player. Talks are also ongoing with PSG over Bradley Barcola, another key target in their attacking rebuild. The French international prefers operating from the left, which would offer a different dimension to the forward line rather than a straight Salah replacement on the right.
So the picture is clear enough. Liverpool want pace, goals and width. Clubs holding those assets know exactly what they’re worth.
With Sarr locked down by Palace and Brighton pricing Minteh out of reach, the question now is simple: who blinks first before the window slams shut – Liverpool in their valuation, or a selling club in their resolve?
