Liverpool Eyes Double Signing from PSG: Mbaye Targeted

Liverpool’s transfer window is finally threatening to catch fire.

With only a couple of weeks left to do business, the club are preparing what could be a bold late assault on the market, and their gaze is locked firmly on Paris.

Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo are already through the door, early pieces in Andoni Iraola’s rebuild. Useful, important even. But they do not solve the glaring problem that still dominates every conversation around Anfield.

Mohamed Salah has not been replaced.

Barcola the priority, Mbaye the move

Liverpool’s top target remains PSG forward Bradley Barcola, with negotiations ongoing over a deal expected to cost north of £100 million. That is the marquee pursuit, the one that would reshape the forward line and send a message across Europe.

But as talks continue, another name from Paris is moving rapidly up the agenda.

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool are ready to table a concrete offer for Ibrahim Mbaye by the end of next week, stepping up their interest in the PSG attacker as the clock ticks down on the window.

Mbaye’s price has risen from the initially reported €40 million, with PSG now expected to demand more. Even so, he is viewed as a more affordable option than Barcola and a potential key piece in Iraola’s attacking puzzle.

Filling the Salah void

That puzzle still has a huge, unmistakable gap.

Salah’s departure has left a hole on the right side of Liverpool’s attack that no one has yet come close to filling. Mbaye is seen as a player who could be deployed in that space, offering direct running, creativity and goals from wide areas in a system that demands constant threat.

The urgency has only intensified with Cody Gakpo now looking increasingly likely to join Tottenham Hotspur. If that move goes through, Liverpool lose another attacking option and the pressure on the recruitment team spikes again.

The need for forwards is no longer a looming concern. It is immediate, obvious, and unavoidable.

Statement of intent?

A successful double raid on the European champions, landing both Barcola and Mbaye, would be a thunderous statement from Liverpool after a slow-burning summer. It would reshape Iraola’s front line in one swoop and redraw expectations for the season.

The proposals are being prepared. The window is closing.

Now it’s down to Liverpool to decide just how big they want this rebuild to be.
