Liverpool Weigh January Move for Lamine Camara
Liverpool are weighing up a January move for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, with insiders suggesting there is a “real possibility” the deal happens – and that’s not the only position under review at Anfield.

Camara’s future already produced late-window drama once. On deadline day, the 22-year-old was on the brink of joining Chelsea, only for Monaco to pull the plug in the final hours. Talks with the London club had been extensive. The player had discussed his role, listened to the project, and, according to reports, given the green light to head to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea still want him. But they may not get a clear run at him this time.
Liverpool are now firmly in the frame and, according to Football Insider, have “held talks” over a possible January switch. Mick Brown told the outlet that Camara’s name has been a live topic at Anfield.
“Lamine Camara is a name that has been discussed behind the scenes,” Brown said, adding that Liverpool will be closely tracking his performances for Monaco over the coming months.
The price has shifted. Chelsea had initially put together a package worth around €55m (£47m, $63m). After his near-move and continued rise, Monaco are now expected to push for closer to €70m (£60m, $81m) if they cash in mid-season.
The dynamic around the deal is clear. Camara’s camp want movement.
“His agent has been very outspoken about trying to get him a move,” Brown noted, suggesting Liverpool will almost certainly have explored the possibility of a January agreement already. The framework is there: a club that needs another high-level midfielder, a player who has already been on the brink of a Premier League move, and an agent agitating for the next step.
Chelsea missed out once. Liverpool are positioning themselves to make sure they don’t.
Mitchell interest grows as left-back questions mount
Midfield isn’t the only area under scrutiny. Liverpool’s recruitment team are also assessing options at left-back, with Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell emerging as a serious candidate and attracting attention from Manchester United as well.
Andoni Iraola currently leans on Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas on that flank. It hasn’t been entirely convincing. Kerkez has struggled to hit consistent form, while Tsimikas is out of contract at the end of the season and remains on the fringes of the squad.
That uncertainty has pushed left-back up the list of priorities. Mitchell, one of the Premier League’s most reliable performers in the position, is firmly on the radar.
In a separate Football Insider update, Brown underlined just how competitive the chase for the Palace man could become.
“Man United aren’t going to be the only club interested in signing Mitchell,” he said. For any side scouring the league for a left-back, the 24-year-old stands out.
“He impresses every single week, gets on with his job, he’s terrific defensively and he’s improved the attacking side of his game as well, he’s a top, top player.”
That profile naturally draws the biggest clubs into the conversation.
“So when you look at those top clubs, you’ve got Liverpool where Milos Kerkez has been questioned a bit and maybe isn’t as consistent as they’d like him to be,” Brown explained.
“Then you’ve got Chelsea, who are always going to be interested in this type of deal where they can bring a quality player in without having to spend big.”
Mitchell ticks the boxes: proven in the league, consistent, defensively secure, with an attacking game that’s still growing. For Liverpool, United and Chelsea, it’s the kind of move that can quietly reshape a back line for years.
The question now is simple: who makes the first decisive move in January – and who gets left watching a rival strengthen in two key positions?
