Liverpool's Deadline Day: Keyrol Figueroa's Loan Situation
Liverpool face a frantic deadline day with business to do at both ends of the squad – and one young forward is at the centre of it.
The club still have glaring holes in key areas, yet they also carry a cluster of players who have no realistic route into the first-team picture and must be moved on before the window shuts. All of it has to be sorted today.
Harvey Elliott is effectively out of the door, his switch to Valencia close to being wrapped up. Federico Chiesa’s situation remains clouded, his role under serious question once again as Liverpool weigh up what to do next.
Amid the headline names, though, one of the more intriguing stories belongs to Keyrol Figueroa.
The 20-year-old striker signed a new deal with Liverpool last season, a renewal that raised eyebrows across the fanbase. Many expected him to run down his contract and leave in 2026. Instead, he committed his future, even though he has never looked close to the senior setup.
That gap between contract and opportunity is now pushing him towards the exit, at least temporarily.
According to The Athletic, Figueroa has two concrete loan offers on the table for this season. Liverpool are weighing them up and are expected to agree to one of them before the deadline, unless a third, more attractive option lands late.
Wherever he goes, it will almost certainly be on a straight loan. What comes after that is wide open. Any long-term future at Anfield will hinge on what he does over the next few months, and right now there is little sense that he is on a clear path to Liverpool’s first team.
For now, though, the equation is simple: pick a club, play games, prove a point.
By the end of today, Keyrol Figueroa should have a new badge on his shirt and a fresh stage on which to show whether Liverpool were right to keep faith.
