Liverpool Make Major Move to Sign Bradley Barcola Amid Cody Gakpo Transfer Speculation

Liverpool have resumed negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain regarding their top transfer target, Bradley Barcola. An improved offer is expected soon as the Premier League club pushes to finalize the signing before the window closes.

Transfer Discussions Restart

The talks between Liverpool and PSG have officially restarted, aiming to secure Barcola's transfer. Earlier this month, Liverpool’s initial bid of around £90 million ($122.3 million) was rejected by PSG, who want a hefty £135 million ($184.2 million) fee for their prized winger.

Cody Gakpo’s Potential Departure Could Fund Deal

The possibility of Cody Gakpo leaving Liverpool might unlock the funds needed to land Barcola. The Dutch forward has been linked with moves to Tottenham and Manchester City, which could provide Liverpool with the financial resources required to meet PSG’s demands.

PSG’s sporting director, Luis Campos, recently admitted that the transfer window remains open and flexible, suggesting that further developments could happen before the deadline.

Personal Terms Agreed with Barcola

Barcola has been Liverpool’s priority signing all summer. The two parties have already agreed on personal terms. Despite the ongoing negotiations, Barcola has not pushed to leave PSG. With two years left on his contract, he is willing to remain if no deal materializes.

Barcola has not appeared in any of PSG’s first three matches this season but featured in all eight of France’s games at the World Cup, where they finished fourth.

Optimism Builds Ahead of Deadline

Although the gap between the clubs’ valuations remains significant, optimism grows that an agreement can be reached before the September 1 transfer deadline. Liverpool is expected to submit a much-improved offer within the next day or two, which could be a turning point in the negotiations.

If successful, Liverpool will secure a highly sought-after player who turns 24 next week.
