What a difference a week can make. Paris Saint-Germain will certainly hope so.
Luis Enrique’s side stumbled out of the blocks, held by Stade Rennais last Friday and forced to lean on a second-half brace from Ferran Torres just to escape with a point. The performance exposed what many around the club already knew: a chopped-up pre-season has left PSG short of rhythm and sharpness.
The opposition did them no favours either. Rennes pressed, harried, and asked questions. Now comes another awkward trip – north to Lille, another side with genuine ambitions of muscling into the Champions League places.
PSG travel without Ousmane Dembélé, a significant creative loss. Yet Lille have their own headache. Matias Fernandez-Pardo will not feature while his transfer saga rumbles on, and his absence strips LOSC of a key piece in their attacking puzzle.
