Josh Yaro Leaves St. Louis CITY SC on Loan to AC Boise

St. Louis CITY SC defender Josh Yaro has left on loan for USL League One side Athletic Club Boise, a move that runs through the end of the 2026 season and quietly closes a chapter with one of the club’s original pillars.

The 31-year-old has been embedded in the St. Louis project since 2022. Before the first team ever kicked a ball in MLS, Yaro was anchoring the back line for CITY2, helping the side capture the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference title and setting an early standard for what the expansion club wanted to be: aggressive, organized, and hard to play against.

His reward came in 2023 with a promotion to the senior squad, where he became one of those dependable, plug‑and‑play professionals every new franchise needs. Not always in the headlines, often not even in the starting XI, but ready whenever the call came.

“Josh has been with the club from the beginning and has always been a great teammate, stepping up whenever needed both on and off the pitch,” Sporting Director Corey Wray said. “He has embraced the city and consistently made an impact through numerous community initiatives, which speaks to the person he is. We are excited that he now has an opportunity to get consistent minutes in a competitive team and wish him and AC Boise the best for the remainder of the season.”

The message is clear: this is a football decision, but it’s also a nod of respect. At 31, Yaro needs games, not cameos. Boise can give him exactly that.

For St. Louis, it’s a calculated shift. A trusted veteran moves out to clear space in a crowded defensive group, while a lower‑division side gains a leader who has already helped build a winning culture from scratch once before.

Now the question becomes what Yaro does with this run of minutes in USL League One—and whether this next stretch in Boise becomes a late‑career platform or the final, steadying act of a defender who helped lay the foundations in St. Louis.
