Jamie Vardy is swapping the penalty box for the broadcast booth – and he is doing it in Germany.

According to The Athletic’s German football correspondent Seb Stafford-Bloor, the former Leicester City and England striker has become a live rights holder for the Bundesliga and will launch his coverage with Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart later tonight.

It is a striking move. Vardy, a Premier League title winner and one of English football’s most recognisable modern forwards, is stepping directly into a space long dominated by traditional broadcasters. Now he will sit alongside That’s Football, the channel fronted by Mark Goldbridge of The United Stand, in bringing live Bundesliga action to an audience more used to Super Sunday than Supercup.
