Ismael Saibari Makes Instant Impact for Bayern Munich
Ismael Saibari needed only a flicker of time to turn a routine friendly into a small statement.
Bayern Munich’s new Moroccan signing pulled on the club’s shirt for the first time in the 3-1 win over Leipzig, came off the bench, and promptly left a fingerprint on the night.
Instant impact off the bench
Introduced in the 71st minute, Saibari did not ease his way into the game. He went straight at it. Less than 10 minutes after stepping onto the pitch, he carved open Leipzig’s defence and slipped in Jamal Musiala for Bayern’s third goal in the 81st minute.
The move was exactly the sort of contribution Bayern had hoped for when they moved for him this summer: sharp, decisive, and clean in the final third.
Musiala, the German star who finished off Saibari’s work, later had to leave the pitch in the 86th minute after suffering a sudden setback, a jarring note on an otherwise upbeat evening for the Bavarians.
Bayern roll out the welcome
The club wasted no time in amplifying the moment. Bayern’s official channels spent Saturday celebrating their new arrival, rolling out welcome messages and highlighting the assist that capped off the 3-1 victory.
For Saibari, it marked a swift transition from new signing to on-pitch contributor, the kind of debut that instantly plays well in a dressing room and in the stands.
From PSV and the World Cup to Bavaria
Saibari joined Bayern this summer from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, signing a long-term deal that runs until 2031. The length of the contract underlines how firmly the club believes in his potential.
He arrives in Munich on the back of a standout spell with Morocco at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored three goals during the tournament before injury forced him to miss the quarter-final defeat to France (2-0).
That same injury had kept him working individually in recent weeks. His debut against Leipzig came only a few days after he finally rejoined full group training.
Barely back with the squad. Already deciding a game. If this is Saibari at the starting line, Bayern will be eager to see what he looks like once he’s fully up to speed.
