Inter Cash in on Matteo Motta and Eye Luca Reggiani

Inter have moved on one of their own and immediately turned their gaze to one that got away.

The Nerazzurri have officially sold academy full-back Matteo Motta to Pescara, striking a deal that keeps them tied to his future. The 21-year-old left-back joins the Serie C side after a loan spell at Lumezzane, still without a single competitive appearance for Inter’s senior team to his name.

Inter, though, have not cut the cord entirely. As part of the agreement, they retain 50 per cent of any future sell-on fee, a classic hedge on a late-blooming defender they know well.

While Motta leaves, another Italian defender dominates Inter’s transfer thoughts.

German outlet Bild report that Inter have again contacted Borussia Dortmund to ask about the availability of 18-year-old centre-back Luca Reggiani. The Italian, who came through Sassuolo’s youth system, left Serie A for Dortmund in February 2024 and has taken off in Germany.

Reggiani’s rise has been sharp. He impressed so quickly in the Bundesliga that he earned a senior Italy cap at just 18, making his debut in June 2026 and instantly marking himself as one of the most intriguing young defenders of his generation.

That kind of trajectory has not gone unnoticed in Milan. Inter see an Italian international, formed in Serie A, now hardened in the Bundesliga, and they want him back on home soil.

The problem? Dortmund do not.

According to the same report, the German club have little interest in negotiating. They have only recently extended Reggiani’s contract and view him as a key piece of their future, not a trading chip for the present.

Inter have made their move. For now, Dortmund are simply closing the door.
