Hull City Targets Six New Signings for Summer Rebuild
Hull City’s summer is turning into a full-scale rebuild. Not a tweak. A tear-down and re-fit.
Club correspondent Barry Cooper reports that the Tigers are looking at as many as six further signings before the window closes, with the MKM Stadium doors very much revolving. The move for Fiorentina defender Niccolo Fortini is already in motion, and he may just be the first of a sizeable wave.
The plan is clear: another goalkeeper, a midfielder, a winger and at least two forwards to arm Sergej Jakirovic for the club’s Premier League return. Hull want depth, pace and goals. They know they’ll need all three.
Wide men and creativity on the radar
On the flanks, Hull have turned their attention to Reims winger Keito Nakamura. Interest is understood to be concrete, with reports in France claiming City have already made contact with the Japan international’s representatives. He is one of two wide players on a growing shortlist.
The other is Yeremay Hernandez of Deportivo La Coruna. French outlet Foot Mercato say both Nakamura and Hernandez have been added to Hull’s list of attacking options, with the pair valued at a combined £31m. Hernandez, currently playing in La Liga, would bring a different profile again – another sign that Hull are casting the net wide rather than betting everything on a single name.
Fiorentina’s Fortini remains a key defensive target. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Hull hold “serious” interest in the player, with talks progressing over a loan deal that would include an option to buy. Some reports in Italy even suggest the move is close, underlining how quickly Hull are trying to move in this market.
Wahi turns Hull down as forward search intensifies
Up front, not every door is opening.
Eintracht Frankfurt striker Elye Wahi has rejected the chance to join Hull this summer, according to Kieran King. Wahi, 23, cost Frankfurt £25m when he arrived from Marseille in January 2025, but he has struggled badly in the Bundesliga, scoring just once in 25 appearances for The Eagles.
His loan spell at Nice last season told a very different story. Nine goals in 19 Ligue 1 games, a key role in keeping the club in the French top flight, and a reputation restored. No surprise, then, that L’Equipe report Wahi is prioritising a return to Nice despite interest from Hull and Lazio. Hull asked the question. The answer, for now, is no.
That setback has not cooled Hull’s push for attacking reinforcements. Far from it.
Toure, Njinmah and a World Cup standout in the frame
Mohamed Toure is one of the names now firmly on the radar. The Norwich City forward has been linked with Hull as they explore options to strengthen the front line. Journalist Rudi Galetti reports that Porto are also in the hunt for the Australia international, setting up a cross-continent tug-of-war for his signature.
In Germany, Werder Bremen’s Justin Njinmah has emerged as another target. Sport Bild claim Hull are competing with Fiorentina, Southampton and Marseille for the 25-year-old winger. No fee has yet been disclosed, but the level of interest from across Europe underlines the scale of the chase Hull are entering into.
Then there is Marcus Holmgren Pedersen, the Torino man who lit up the World Cup for Norway earlier this summer. Barry Cooper reports that Hull are pushing hard to sign the right-back, who has been identified as a key piece for Jakirovic’s Premier League puzzle.
Hull have already seen a €5m (£4.3m) bid turned down by Torino, but that rejection only highlights how determined they are to get him. A World Cup breakout, a position of need, and a manager who wants his full-backs to attack. It all fits.
Six more signings. Multiple markets. Deals close, others slipping away. Hull City are moving aggressively – and the only real question now is how different this squad will look by the time the Premier League kicks off.
