Harry Kane Ready for Bayern Munich Contract Talks
Harry Kane is ready to sit down with Bayern Munich and talk about the future. Not next year. Not “at some point”. Now.
The 33-year-old striker has moved into the final 12 months of the four-year contract he signed after his £86.4m switch from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023, and the next step in his career is back on the agenda.
Last season he was relentless. Kane hit 61 goals in 51 games in all competitions as Vincent Kompany’s Bayern side stormed to a league and cup double, underlining his status as the centrepiece of the Bundesliga champions’ attack.
Now comes the off-pitch work.
“We obviously said we wanted to talk after the World Cup and after my holiday,” Kane explained. “So I'm not sure exactly when, but they'll start this week, next week... we'll start those talks.”
There was no hint of tension in his words, no sense of a stand-off brewing.
“Like I've said before, we're calm, I think they're calm with the situation,” he said. “Obviously now is the time to start talking, because there's only a year left. That's important. But both sides are relaxed, and I'm pretty sure there'll be some talks this week or next week.”
Bayern know exactly what they are trying to secure. Since arriving in Germany, Kane has turned the Bundesliga into his personal scoring ground: 98 goals in 94 league games across three campaigns, three straight Bundesliga Golden Boot awards, and a level of consistency that has reshaped the club’s post-Lewandowski era.
His form has travelled with him onto the biggest international stage as well. At the 2026 World Cup, the England captain scored six times, becoming his country’s all-time leading World Cup scorer with 14 goals in 18 appearances. The numbers keep stacking up, and so do the individual accolades and nominations.
That is why his name sits firmly among the favourites for the 2026 Ballon d'Or. Kane, though, is determined not to let the noise pull him away from the next challenge.
“The Ballon d'Or is as big as it gets, from an individual point of view,” he said. “I know I had a great season last season, but the focus is on this new season.”
He has done his part on the pitch. What comes next is out of his hands, and he knows it.
“The Ballon d'Or's not in my hands. I've done what I can do in terms of putting in the performances. It's now down to votes and other people and the media - stuff I can't control - so we'll see what happens.
“Obviously, it would be amazing if it was to happen. But ultimately, it's still two or three months away before that's decided so it's not something that's at the front of my mind right now.”
So the picture is clear. Kane is chasing titles with Bayern, eyeing the biggest individual prize in the game, and walking into contract talks with a year left on his deal. The goals keep coming. The decisions are looming.
