Hannah Hampton Secures Golden Glove Again—A Historic Achievement

Hannah Hampton has turned goalkeeping excellence into a habit, and now into history.

The Chelsea and England No 1 has secured the Golden Glove once again, finishing the league campaign with eight clean sheets, the latest coming in a tense 1-0 win over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

That match summed up her season. With the clock deep into stoppage time and Chelsea clinging to their lead, Hampton signalled to come off, struggling with illness. She walked away from a personal milestone to make sure her team saw the game out, unsure if stepping off the pitch would cost her the clean sheet and, with it, the award.

It did not. The shutout was confirmed as hers, and so was the Golden Glove.

This is no one-off. Hampton has now claimed the prize in back-to-back seasons, having shared last year’s award with Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce. No goalkeeper had previously managed consecutive Golden Gloves in this competition. Hampton has set that standard.

She arrived at this campaign riding a wave of momentum. A European champion with England at Women’s Euro 2025, she also became the inaugural winner of the Women’s Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d’Or in September, recognition that placed her firmly among the game’s elite.

Now the domestic numbers match the reputation. Eight clean sheets, big-game performances, and a piece of history as the first to retain the Golden Glove.

Hannah Hampton is no longer just one of the best in the women’s game. She is the benchmark every other goalkeeper has to chase.
