Galatasaray's Ambitious Transfer Saga Involving Martinelli and Osimhen
Galatasaray’s move for Gabriel Martinelli was already ambitious. Now it has wandered into full-blown transfer saga territory.
Within a day of the Turkish club’s interest emerging, the picture around the Arsenal winger shifted. Arsenal have reportedly been offered the chance to bring Victor Osimhen to north London as part of a blockbuster swap, with Martinelli heading the other way. For a club openly hunting a new No 9, that sort of proposal will always make people sit up.
To crank the stakes even higher, Ethan Nwaneri’s name has been floated as a possible makeweight in what would be a mega deal. A prolific, proven striker in Osimhen, a key wide forward in Martinelli and one of England’s brightest teenage prospects all wrapped into one negotiation: it is the kind of complexity that excites agents and alarms managers.
Reijnders on the move again?
Tijjani Reijnders could be facing a tactical headache under Enzo Maresca at Manchester City. Finding the perfect niche for the Dutch midfielder in Maresca’s system may not be straightforward, and that uncertainty has already stirred the market.
Nottingham Forest have been linked, and that interest has echoed all the way to Saudi Arabia. Al Qadsiah, coached by Brendan Rodgers, are ready to throw serious money at the problem, with a £51m offer on the table for Reijnders. For a player still trying to nail down his ideal role, that is a staggering show of faith.
Newcastle flush with cash, light in midfield
Newcastle, meanwhile, are shopping with a heavy wallet and a light midfield. Losing Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães to Spurs and Arsenal respectively has ripped out the heart of Eddie Howe’s engine room. The consolation? Around £175m in incoming fees.
