Gabriel Jesus remains at the centre of one of the window’s most intriguing late stories – wanted by Napoli, isolated at Arsenal, and running down a contract that gives his current club little room to wait.
Allegri’s first choice

"It's something to do with the numbers that we have in the squad at the moment and the way we're managing that kind of situation individually with all the players – they have some personal situations," Arteta said.
The Arsenal manager confirmed he has spoken directly with Jesus and suggested those talks were frank but positive.
"Yes, for sure (he's spoken to Jesus). Those conversations go both ways, but I'm very satisfied with how these conversations went because I know what is in each other's hearts.
"The words that come through in those conversations make me really happy. It's inevitable at some point you need to have certain discussions and say certain things that sometimes are tough."
For now, Jesus stays on the fringes of first-team training while his future hangs in the balance.
Player hesitation, club urgency
Previous reports indicated that Jesus had shown some hesitation about joining Napoli. Whether that stance has softened remains unclear, and that uncertainty is one of the key threads running through the deal.
From Arsenal’s perspective, the clock is loud. Jesus’ contract expires next year. This window is their last realistic chance to secure a significant fee for a player who arrived as a cornerstone of Arteta’s project but has battled injuries and competition for his place.
