Premier League Loan Options Offer Endrick a Chance to Revive His Career
Real Madrid forward Endrick looks likely to leave the club on loan again this season, with Aston Villa, fresh off their Europa League triumph, emerging as strong contenders to secure his services.
The 20-year-old Brazilian has struggled to establish himself since joining Madrid in summer 2024 amid high expectations as one of South America’s brightest talents. Under managers Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso, he saw limited action and was subsequently loaned out to Lyon during the latter half of the 2025–26 season. There, he impressed by scoring eight goals and providing eight assists across 21 appearances.
His performances in France earned him a spot in Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup. After the tournament, Endrick returned early to Real Madrid's preseason, aiming to impress new coach José Mourinho. Yet, it seems his immediate future lies away from Madrid.
The arrival of backup striker Carlos Espí and exciting winger Yan Diomande has increased competition, making it even tougher for Endrick to find minutes either as a central striker or in wide positions where he featured more frequently at Lyon. Mourinho has indicated his preference for a smaller squad, stating he wants "a small squad, 20 players plus those who are currently injured," suggesting that departures like Endrick’s are expected before the September 1 transfer deadline.
Which Clubs Are Interested?
Interest in Endrick comes from multiple countries. According to AS, both Aston Villa and Serie A side AS Roma have expressed interest in taking him on loan following his spell in France. Madrid still regard Endrick as a valuable asset they cannot afford to diminish.
To facilitate the loan, Los Blancos are reportedly willing to subsidize part of his salary, which exceeds €5 million ($5.75 million) annually.
SPORT names Villa as the "most probable" destination. Meanwhile, reports from Spain mention that La Liga teams Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Real Betis have also inquired about taking Endrick on loan. The player himself prefers to compete in European competitions, which could sway decisions.
What Could Endrick Bring to Aston Villa?
At just 20, Endrick is barely out of his teenage years but has already experienced three different managers at Real Madrid. He went from being one of the most talked-about prospects to almost fading into the background within two years.
The Bernabéu is quick to move on, welcoming Diomande, a year younger than Endrick, as the new rising star this summer.
Once compared to stars like Vinícius Júnior, Karim Benzema, and even Pelé, Endrick’s value has dipped since his near €60 million ($69 million) transfer. Still, his time in France revealed flashes of his potential.
Known for his explosive speed, low center of gravity, and clinical finishing, Endrick showed qualities that set him apart during his early days at Palmeiras. Though the jump to one of the world’s biggest clubs proved tough, it doesn’t make him a failure.
His loan at Lyon presented a dynamic forward able to operate both centrally and on the right wing.
Ex-France international Emmanuel Petit said in May, “Endrick is so young, only 19. He’s very talented, very gifted, but he’s like a wild horse with a lot of energy. On the field, sometimes he can be a bit too selfish. But at the same time, he knows he has huge qualities. He needs to be in the right setting to improve and develop because this kid is a diamond. What kind of club would suit him? Given his qualities, I’d love him to come to Arsenal.”
