Deportivo A Coruna Loan Barcelona Midfielder Marc Casado with Option to Buy
Deportivo A Coruna have secured Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado on a loan deal lasting the entire season, including an option to purchase permanently. The 22-year-old arrives at Riazor aiming for more consistent first-team opportunities after winning several major trophies and making 75 senior appearances for the Catalan club.
Galician Club Lands Barca Talent
The transfer has been officially confirmed by Deportivo. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal features a buy option valued at €30 million (£26m/$35m) that Deportivo can activate once the loan period ends. Casado leaves Barcelona seeking regular playing time after coming through La Masia and earning his place in senior football.
Deportivo Praise Their New Midfielder
The club's statement highlighted Casado’s experience despite his youth: "Although young, he already boasts significant elite-level experience and an impressive trophy cabinet, including two LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Supercopa de España."
They also stressed his tactical versatility: "With this signing, Depor adds a promising and adaptable player familiar with top-level football and seasoned in both domestic and international competitions."
Midfielder Seeks Regular Minutes
Casado departs Camp Nou after falling behind key midfielders like Rodri, Frenkie de Jong, and Marc Bernal in the pecking order. Over his time at Barcelona, he made 75 senior appearances and earned two caps for Spain’s senior team. He can play as a holding midfielder or right-back, bringing experience from 49 La Liga matches and 19 Champions League games. This background is expected to add valuable quality to Deportivo’s squad this season.
Upcoming Debut Against Villarreal
The 22-year-old might make his debut this Saturday when Deportivo travel to face Villarreal in their fourth league game of the season. The Galicians have started well in LaLiga, sitting eighth with five points from three matches since their promotion. This challenging away fixture offers Casado a great chance to start strong with his new team.
