Crystal Palace’s managerial search has taken a sharp turn, with Lens boss Pierre Sage now moving into focus as talks are expected in the early part of this week.

Palace had pushed hard for Andoni Iraola, making the Bournemouth head coach their clear first choice to succeed Oliver Glasner. The club’s hierarchy believed he was the man to lead the next phase at Selhurst Park and were prepared to build their plans around him.
