Burton Albion Sign Caylan Vickers from Brighton
Burton Albion have moved to sharpen their attacking edge with the signing of winger Caylan Vickers from Premier League side Brighton for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old has signed a two-year contract at the Pirelli Stadium, with the Brewers holding an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.
Vickers arrives with solid League One experience already under his belt. Last season he featured on loan for both Barnsley and Wigan Athletic, learning the division’s demands in two very different dressing rooms and under real pressure.
He came through the ranks at Reading before earning his move to Brighton, but never made a first-team appearance for the Seagulls, his pathway blocked in a crowded attacking department on the south coast.
Now he gets a fresh start – and Burton boss Gary Bowyer expects him to light things up.
"He's an attacking player who will excite our supporters whilst adding goals and assists to the team," said Bowyer. "Having played at this level already, he arrives ready to contribute and we look forward to seeing how he continues to develop with us."
Burton are back at the Pirelli on Wednesday evening, when AFC Wimbledon come to town. Vickers’ name is now on the teamsheet. The next question is whether he can make an immediate impact.
