Bradley Barcola is closing in on a move to Liverpool after the Premier League club reached an outline agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over a blockbuster transfer.
The 23-year-old winger has been Liverpool’s priority target this summer as they search for a new attacking talisman following Mo Salah’s departure to Trabzonspor on a free transfer earlier this month. The Egyptian’s exit has left a gaping hole on the right of Liverpool’s front line; Barcola is the man they want to fill it.
Liverpool close on £100m Barcola deal
PSG had initially set a huge £145 million price tag for Barcola, but negotiations have shifted. According to The Times, the two clubs have now “struck an outline agreement” for a guaranteed £100 million fee, with a further £20 million potentially due in add-ons.
Talks reportedly made a “breakthrough” overnight. The framework is in place, but the move still needs to be finalised before Barcola can be confirmed as a Liverpool player.
For the France international, the move offers something he has been chasing: minutes. Barcola has been pushing for a way out of Paris in search of more regular gametime. At PSG he sits behind Desire Doue and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia in the attacking hierarchy, while recent arrivals Ferran Torres, Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Godts have only tightened the squeeze on his opportunities.
A place in Liverpool transfer history
If completed on the reported terms, the deal will be one of the biggest in Liverpool’s history.
Barcola, who still has two years left on his PSG contract, would become the club’s second-most expensive signing of all time. Only Alexander Isak, who arrived from Newcastle United for £125 million last year, would sit above him.
He would also join Florian Wirtz in the £100 million bracket. The German playmaker signed from Bayer Leverkusen for £100 million, with a possible extra £16 million in add-ons tied to Liverpool winning the Premier League or the UEFA Champions League.
