Barnsley Sign Connor O'Riordan on Loan
Barnsley have moved to strengthen their back line with the season-long loan signing of Blackburn Rovers defender Connor O'Riordan, securing an option to make the deal permanent next summer.
The 22-year-old centre-back, capped by Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level, is no stranger to League One. He spent the first half of last season with Doncaster Rovers, gaining valuable experience in the division before returning to Blackburn in January.
Back at Ewood Park, O'Riordan broke into the first-team picture and made six appearances in all competitions for the Championship side, enough to catch Barnsley’s eye as they look to reinforce their promotion push.
He will now compete for a place in the Tykes’ defence and could make his debut as soon as Saturday, when Barnsley travel to Leyton Orient.
