Barcelona Targets Pedro Porro Amid Koundé Uncertainty
Barcelona have quietly started rewriting their defensive plan — and the first name on the board is Pedro Porro.
With uncertainty lingering over Jules Koundé’s future and Arsenal monitoring the Frenchman, the Catalan club have opened direct lines of communication with the Tottenham full-back’s camp, according to reports from Spain relayed by the Metro website.

Inside the club, no one is pushing Koundé out. He has not asked to leave and, for now, has shown no desire to go. But his situation is unresolved, and that alone has been enough to push Barcelona into action.
They do not want to be caught scrambling in June.
Journalist Gerard Romero revealed on his YouTube channel that Barcelona have stepped up talks with Porro’s representatives in recent days and have already put an initial proposal on the table. Not to Tottenham, yet — to the player’s side, to test the waters and understand what it would take.
The message is clear: if Koundé goes, they want to be ready.
Porro, a modern full-back in his prime
Porro, 26, has grown into one of Tottenham’s standout performers. His attacking thrust from right-back, combined with an ability to influence games defensively, has made him a key figure in north London.
He also carried that form onto the international stage, starting most of Spain’s matches on their way to winning the last World Cup. That run cemented his status as a high-level option on the biggest stage.
Tottenham moved to secure their asset early. Porro signed a new contract last June, tying him to the club until 2031, a long deal that gives Spurs serious leverage in any negotiation.
Coach Roberto De Zerbi trusts him completely and has publicly framed him as an important player, one capable of changing matches at both ends of the pitch. That kind of endorsement only drives his value higher.
The perfect fit — on paper
What makes Porro especially attractive to Barcelona is not just his level, but his flexibility. He can operate across multiple roles in the back line, offering cover and tactical variety on the right and beyond — exactly the sort of profile the club would need if Koundé, who has also been used in several positions, were to depart.
For now, Koundé stays, Porro remains under a long contract at Tottenham, and nothing is close to done.
But Barcelona have made their first move. If the dominoes start to fall this summer, they already know who they want standing in that right-back corridor at the Camp Nou.
