Arsenal Secures Teenage Forward Vincent Joseph from Liverpool
Arsenal have moved ahead of their Premier League rivals to land highly rated teenage forward Vincent Joseph from Liverpool, with a deal in place and only the compensation figure left to settle.
The 16-year-old, who can play as a central striker or drop into the No 10 role, has been a prolific presence in Liverpool’s academy sides. Anfield insiders describe him as having “scored freely” for years in the youth ranks, and his first taste of under-18 football underlined that reputation: three goals in his first two appearances for the U18s.
His form has translated to the international stage as well. Joseph has struck eight goals in nine games for England U16s and is also eligible to represent Germany, giving him a major decision to make further down the line.

Manchester United were linked with a surprise move for Joseph in March, but Arsenal have won that particular tug of war.
According to The Athletic, Joseph allowed his schoolboy contract at Liverpool to run down and opted not to sign a scholarship with the club. That opened the door for Arsenal, who moved quickly and have now “reached an agreement” with the youngster.
Talks between the two clubs are ongoing over a compensation package. If they cannot settle on a fee, the case will go to a tribunal, as required when a player under 24 switches clubs before signing their first professional deal or at the end of that first contract.
The Professional Football Compensation Committee will then step in and weigh up several factors: Joseph’s age, his playing record, how long he spent at Liverpool, the status of both clubs and the financial terms each side put on the table.
Inside Arsenal, there is a feeling they may have secured a future gem. Joseph has already drawn comparisons to Jamal Musiala for his ability to glide between the lines and influence play as both a creator and a finisher.
Arteta’s hunt for a headline No 9
While Arsenal look to the future with Joseph, the club are also working on the here and now, pushing to add a top-level centre-forward to Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad.
The London side want an elite No 9 to lead the line and compete with the profile of Viktor Gyokeres, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates. Contacts remain open with Julian Alvarez, with Arsenal keeping a close eye on the Argentine’s situation, although Alvarez is understood to favour a move to Barcelona if he leaves his current club.
The Telegraph report that Arsenal and Galatasaray have held talks that touched on Victor Osimhen while discussing the futures of Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri. Those conversations have only heightened speculation around a potential move for the Napoli striker.
Sources indicate Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have all conducted internal discussions about Osimhen, amid growing belief that his price tag has dropped significantly from the £100m mark that once seemed immovable.
United have since cooled their interest in the Nigeria international. That leaves Arsenal and Spurs in a stronger position should a formal bidding war begin.
Osimhen would still require a major financial commitment. Galatasaray are said to be more open to negotiating his exit at a slightly reduced fee, but the forward’s wage demands to move to the Premier League remain substantial and would test any club’s salary structure.
Amid all this, Arsenal are also described as the side most keen on a Barcelona player, underlining a clear theme of their summer: stock the academy with high-ceiling talent like Vincent Joseph, while simultaneously hunting the kind of marquee striker who can turn a title challenge into a title win.
