Arsenal Considers January Move for Pedro Neto as Title Race Intensifies

Arsenal are already bracing for a bruising title fight with Manchester City – and January could be the moment they reach again for the transfer market.

Mikel Arteta’s side look powerful, settled and serious. They know that might still not be enough. City, even after the departure of Pep Guardiola, have not stepped back from the fight. The bar to win the league remains brutally high, and Arsenal are preparing for the possibility that they will need fresh legs and fresh ideas midway through the season.

One name sits firmly on their radar: Pedro Neto.

Neto on Arsenal’s shortlist

According to Fichajes, Arsenal are considering a move for the Portuguese attacker in the January window. Neto was widely tipped to leave Chelsea in the last market, with several clubs circling, but nothing materialised and he stayed at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal have not forgotten him.

Inside the recruitment meetings, Neto is viewed as a high-level winger who fits the profile Arteta wants in his wide areas – direct, versatile, and capable of adding another layer to an already dangerous front line. His ability to operate across the attacking positions would give Arteta another option when rotating or reshaping the forward line during the run-in.

The thinking is clear: if Arsenal want to maintain their current level deep into the second half of the campaign, they may need one more attacking weapon.

Madueke’s future could be the trigger

Any serious move for Neto, though, is likely to depend on what happens within Arsenal’s own squad once the winter window opens.

There is expected to be interest in Noni Madueke, with several clubs already tracking the Englishman. If Arsenal decide to cash in or allow him to leave in the middle of the season, the need for another winger becomes far more urgent.

In that scenario, Neto moves from “one to watch” to a very real option. Losing Madueke would strip away a layer of attacking depth; signing Neto would be the immediate way to restore it and keep Arsenal fully stocked for a title chase that will not allow many missteps.

For the moment, the situation remains in a holding pattern. Neto is still a Chelsea player. Arsenal are watching, waiting, and weighing up how aggressive they need to be when January opens.

The decision will come down to two questions inside the Emirates: is this squad, as it stands, truly deep enough to outlast City – and can they afford to let Madueke go without a player like Neto walking through the door behind him?
