Arsenal Eyes Marcus Rashford as Replacement for Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal are weighing up a bold move to replace Gabriel Martinelli with Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, according to the UK Telegraph.

Martinelli is set to leave the Emirates in a deal worth more than £50 million, a fee that would represent a club-record sale for the Gunners. The Brazil winger has reportedly given the green light to a switch to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, having previously turned down interest from Galatasaray.

His departure has not gone unnoticed inside the club. The report describes “some internal surprise” at Arsenal that Martinelli has been allowed to move on before a replacement for his position has been secured.

That gap on the left could now open the door for Rashford. Arsenal are understood to be exploring a loan move for the England international as they look to plug a significant hole in Mikel Arteta’s attack.

Rashford has spent each of the last two seasons away from Old Trafford on loan, first with Aston Villa and then Barcelona. Now his future could take another twist — this time in North London, and right into the heart of a Premier League title defence.
