Arsenal Prepare £70 Million Bid for Bruno Guimaraes Amid Newcastle Resistance

Arsenal plan to submit a £70 million offer for Bruno Guimaraes, despite Newcastle United holding firm on keeping their captain. The Brazilian midfielder reportedly wants the move to the Emirates Stadium, which could speed up negotiations.

Gunners Target Midfield Reinforcement

According to The Sun, Mikel Arteta views Guimaraes as a key addition to bolster Arsenal’s midfield this summer. Though Newcastle are reluctant to part with their skipper, Arsenal seem ready to test their resolve by increasing an earlier £60 million offer. This bid would mark one of the club’s biggest transfer moves so far.

Guimaraes Keen on Arsenal Switch

Initial talks through intermediaries suggested Arsenal’s offer was near £60 million, but the figure has now risen to £70 million. Guimaraes has informed Newcastle of his wish to join Arsenal, which could lead to more intense discussions in the coming days as the deal gains momentum.

Other Arsenal Transfer Moves

The club has been relatively quiet early in the window but secured Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for £34 million and made Piero Hincapie’s move permanent for the same amount after his loan from Bayer Leverkusen. Goalkeeper Illan Meslier also joined on a free transfer. Arsenal missed out on Morgan Rogers, who moved to Chelsea in a £117 million deal despite Arteta’s interest.

More Signings Expected

The Sun reports Arsenal aim to add players in defense, midfield, and attack before the window closes. Ezri Konsa is among defensive targets following a back injury to William Saliba that may sideline him for months. Free agent John Stones is another option. Up front, Julian Alvarez remains admired even though Atletico Madrid refuses to sell, while Bradley Barcola is considered, although Liverpool currently lead the race for the Paris Saint-Germain winger.
