Anthony Martial's Surprise Move to Málaga CF

Anthony Martial is closing in on a surprise move to Málaga CF, with the Spanish club, currently 18th in La Liga, reported to be on the verge of landing the free agent, according to Foot Mercato.

At 30, the former Manchester United forward is hunting for a fresh start after his contract with CF Monterrey was terminated. Spain now looks set to become the stage for his attempted revival, despite concrete interest from France. Martial is understood to have rejected two approaches from Ligue 1 clubs as he focused on what he views as the right sporting project rather than a simple return to familiar territory.

The chase for his signature has not been limited to Europe. Libyan side Al-Ittihad Tripoli, who recently brought in Moroccan winger Sofiane Boufal, made a major push to lure the Frenchman. Their proposal was anything but modest.

Determined to convince him, the Libyan club reportedly put a huge deal on the table: a net salary of 10 million euros over two years, plus a signing-on bonus of 5 million euros. An offer that would turn the head of most players at this stage of their career.

Martial said no.

He is said to have turned down the astronomical package, choosing instead to prioritise what he considers a genuine sporting project. If the move to Málaga is completed, he will be walking into a relegation battle rather than a financial comfort zone.
