Andoni Iraola Trims Liverpool Squad with Kieran Morrison Loan

Andoni Iraola has started to trim his Liverpool squad, and the loan exits are beginning to stack up.

The latest to move is winger Kieran Morrison, who has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan for the entire 2026-27 season. The 19-year-old, one of the standout performers on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the USA, has chosen League One over offers from clubs on the continent, convinced that regular minutes at Hillsborough will accelerate his development.

Liverpool clearly see a long-term future for him. Earlier in the summer, the club tied Morrison down to a new contract running until 2030, a statement of faith in a player now stepping into the grind of the English lower leagues to prove he can handle senior football week after week.

While Morrison heads to Yorkshire, another defender is preparing for a fresh start north of the border. Calvin Ramsay is set to seal a loan move to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. The 23-year-old right-back, whose Liverpool deal expires next summer, will use the spell in Paisley to relaunch his career at first-team level as Iraola continues to sharpen the edges of his squad for the season ahead.
