Alejandro Balde has reached the point where excuses no longer count at Barcelona. The next few months will decide whether he is part of Hansi Flick’s long-term plan or the next big sale in a tight market.
The 22-year-old full-back went into the summer knowing the club were willing to listen to offers. Manchester United were sounded out as a possible destination, but no agreement arrived and the window closed with Balde still at Camp Nou. That failure to move him on has now turned into a final audition.
