Al-Qadisiyah Signs Tijjani Reijnders and Unveils Aramco Stadium

Al-Qadisiyah supporters woke up on Wednesday to the kind of news that can change a season.

First came the headline grabber: the club’s signing of Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from Manchester City. A statement of intent on its own. But the realisation quickly followed that this was only half the story.

A new star, and a new stage

While fans digested the arrival of Reijnders, Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah revealed that the club’s new home, Aramco Stadium, is almost ready to open its doors.

Workers have completed the transport and installation of the pitch, using the latest specialist technology associated with top-tier international arenas. The surface is now in place and ready to host matches, giving Al-Qadisiyah a stage to match their growing ambition.

Aramco Stadium will hold around 47,000 spectators across all categories. The design leans heavily on modern comfort: advanced hospitality areas, extensive digital services and systems that simplify entry, navigation and movement inside the ground.

Fifteen internal gates feed into the bowl, supported by smart crowd-management technology and solutions designed to ease the flow of fans and cut congestion before kick-off and after the final whistle.

European ideas, local conditions

Al-Riyadiyah also detailed some of the technology borrowed from leading European venues.

The pitch is equipped with a rainwater drainage system that speeds up runoff and limits the impact of heavy showers on play. Even in rare downpours, the surface is built to cope, keeping the ball moving and the game flowing.

Ventilation sits at the heart of the design. The system is tied into a powerful air-conditioning network with a cooling capacity of 22,500 tonnes, covering every corner of the stadium. Engineers used advanced simulation tools during the design phase to calibrate airflow precisely, targeting maximum comfort and efficiency even in harsh climatic conditions.

The result is a venue built not just to look impressive on the outside, but to work relentlessly for players and supporters on the inside.

Ready for the elite

All of this arrives at a crucial moment in the club’s history. Al-Qadisiyah are preparing for their first-ever appearance in the AFC Champions League Elite, and the message is clear: no excuses, no compromises.

A high-profile signing in Reijnders. A near-complete, high-tech home in Aramco Stadium. Every condition is being lined up for Al-Qadisiyah to test whether they truly belong among Asia’s elite.
