Adam Jackson Leaves Lincoln City After Six Years

Adam Jackson’s six-year spell at Lincoln City has formally come to an end, but the defender will remain a familiar face around the club for a little while yet.

The 32-year-old centre-back has had his contract terminated by mutual consent after being told earlier in the summer he would not be part of the Imps’ 25-man squad for the new season. A move failed to materialise before the transfer window shut, leaving club and player to agree a clean break.

Even so, Lincoln have opened the door for Jackson to keep training with the first-team group while he searches for a new club in the Championship.

Jackson joined Lincoln six years ago and became a constant in the dressing room and on the teamsheet, racking up 179 appearances in all competitions. This season, though, he has featured just once – in the Carabao Cup victory away at Blackpool in late August.

Sporting director Jez George underlined the regard in which Jackson is held, explaining why the club were keen to support him through the transition.

He said the Imps would “do anything to help Jacko with what comes next in his career”, adding that the arrangement “shows the respect both parties have for each other”.

A long servant moves on, but not quite out of sight, as he works on the next chapter of a quietly durable career.
